STING is for 4th - 6th graders and meets Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:00 pm
STING (Striving To Intimately kNow God) is our midweek program for children grades 4th through 6th. Children meet for a time of fun activities, games, and learning relevant to their age-group. This group meets during the school year on Wednesdays at New Summit from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.
STING breaks for the summer and over Christmas break.
A typical Wednesday night begins with a Bible lesson that the children can apply at home or in school. We have a high-energy game (please wear tennis shoes). We have a snack and close in prayer. We also have opportunities to show God's love to others: making get-well cards, providing gifts for others at Christmas, supporting a child in Brazil through Compassion International - we write letters to him and also offer financial support.
If Lee's Summit schools are cancelled for inclement weather the day of STING, then STING will also be cancelled.

STING shops for the needy
STING went shopping at Wal-mart on December 1st.
In October, we had a lesson on generosity. The children were asked to bring in their own money for our shopping trip. We suggested that they could do extra chores around the house to earn some extra money, they could rake their neighbor's leaves, they could bring in their allowance or some of their gift money. The children were very generous in their giving and brought in $210.00.
We divided the children into three groups and each group had $70.00 to spend. Each group picked stars from the Angel Tree. Each star represents a child and contains their age, sex, and gift that child wants. Each group then went off to find the gifts the children wanted. We had enough money to buy gifts for 14 children in Lee's Summit. We purchased 2 pair of shoes (socks for each), a winter coat, a Leap Frog game for a 2 year old, dinosaurs, a truck, a riding toy and several other gifts.
Then we went back to New Summit and prayed for the children that will be receiving these gifts - for a wonderful Christmas and asking God to bring people into their lives to tell them about Jesus if they don't already know Him.
Thank you to Tracy Colon, Julie Lyons, and Joice Trout for driving and shopping with us.
